Welcome to the ATHRA Level Crossing Database
The database is a repository of information from Tourist and Heritage railways describing incidents and near misses that have occurred on the various railways in that sector. Information gathered can be used in a number of ways, including:
- Development of future policy for control of issues at the interface
- Evidence supporting requests for greater enforcement or upgrade of level crossing facilities
- Obtaining statistical information that can be passed on to other agencies and authorities
- Obtaining data that can be used to formulate risk profiles and controls
- Tracking trends at specific locations or railways
Once information has been submitted to the database, a report will be
generated and made immediately available for download, for the
reporting railways records.
Information can entered directly into the data base by approved
registered users. Normally, it is expected that these will be Safety
Managers or other appropriate office bearers of individual railways.
Policy regarding the direct access to the data entry form will be
determined by ATHRA in conjunction with the Level Crossing Sub
Committee, and state based T & H Railway Associations. Reports can also be faxed to 0740536818 or emailed to report@levelcrossing.org.au
Paper forms for recording level crossing occurrences by train crew can
be obtained from this link.
General enquires can be made to info@levelcrossing.org.au
